A/Prof Louisa Gordon

A/Prof Louisa Gordon is Team Head of Health Economics at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute. Louisa is a health economist and holds a PhD in Public Health, Masters of Public Health and Bachelor of Economics. She also has adjunct appointments at The University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology. Louisa has 15 years research experience as a health economist performing economic evaluations, decision-analytic modelling and applied economic research. Her research interests involve the cost-effectiveness of health interventions and services for cancer survivors spanning the full continuum of cancer control. She has published extensively in the areas of skin cancer prevention, supportive care interventions for breast and other cancers, costing studies and more recently on the financial burden of cancer among patients. Prior to joining QIMR Berghofer in 2016, Louisa was a Senior Research Fellow at Griffith University where she undertook contract research commissioned by the Department of Health to evaluate industry submissions for government subsidy through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee and Medical Services Advisory Committee. Over the past 5 years Louisa has been a chief investigator on NHMRC & ARC research grants and consultancies worth over $10 million. During her career, Louisa has published 97 journal articles including papers in Psycho-Oncology, JAMA Dermatology, Health Policy, Value in Health and presented at 35 conferences (with many keynote and invited presentations).
